Perspektiv på lärande, 5 högskolepoäng/ Perspectives on Learning, 5 credits

The course is intended as an introduction to three of the major traditions that have been salient in the study of learning, development and teaching in the past decades: cognitive, pragmatist and sociocultural perspectives. The specific focus will be on the implications for research of these traditions, i.e. how research can be conducted. Thus, a prominent element in the course will be to scrutinize how the methods used for collecting data, the analytical procedures and other aspects of the research process are designed in these traditions. The course is given in English and is organized in collaboration with Turku university in Finland. The course is organized around lectures, seminars and group assignments. These activities take place online via video link, learning management system and during two physical meetings, one in Gothenburg (October 3-4) and one in Turku (November 26-27) When applying for the course, a certification that the student is enrolled in PhD training needs to be supplemented, along with a short description of the student’s thesis work in English (to mona.lundin@gu.se). Each course will have maximum 20 participants. If there are more applicants to a course, a selection is made by judging the relevance of the student's research plan and qualifications in relation to the objectives of the course. The selection process will be carried out by the course leaders in collaboration with the director of research studies. De tre traditionerna är kognitivism, pragmatism och det sociokulturella perspektivet. Specifikt fokus kommer att ges till perspektivens implikationer för hur forskning inom dessa traditioner kan bedrivas. En betydande del av kursen är att studera hur metoder för att samla data, analytiska procedurer och andra aspekter av forskningsprocessen designas inom dessa traditioner. Kursen ges på engelska i samarbete med universitetet i Åbo, Finland. Undervisningsformerna utgörs av föreläsningar, seminarier och grupparbeten. Dessa aktiviteter äger rum både online via videolänk och lärplattform och genom två fysiska möten, ett i Göteborg (3-4 oktober) och ett i Åbo (26-27 november). Vid ansökan skickas intyg om att doktorand är antagen till forskarstudier samt en kort bskrivning av doktorandens forskningsplan på engelska (till mona.lundin@gu.se). Om fler än 20 doktorander sökt kursen kommer ett urval att göras baserat på en värdering avkursens relevans för doktorandens forskningsplan och kvalifikationer i relation till kursenslärandemål.
