Grundläggande immunologiska och molekylärbiologiska laboratorietekniker 5 hp / Basic immunological and molecular biology laboratory techniques 5 credits

Det centrala innehållet i kursen består av praktisk övning i olika vanligt förekommande laboratorietekniker inom fr a immunologi och cellbiologi. Till detta kommer teoretiska avsnitt i form av föreläsningar och utvärdering av resultat från de praktiska momenten i form av gruppseminarium. Den totala kurstiden är tre veckor. På kursen kommer tekniker fenotypning och sortering av celler samt detektion och kvantifiering av protein, RNA och DNA samt proteinexpression att behandlas. Tekniker som övas praktiskt är fluorescensaktiverad cellsortering (FACS), multiplex analys av protein (nanodrop, bioanalyzer, CBA), Elispot, immunhistokemi, konfokalmikroskopering, transfektion av mammalieceller och proteinexpression i bakterier, RNA-extraktion, cDNA framställning och kvantitativ PCR. Kursen är en utpräglad ”hands on” kurs och förfogar över mycket moderna ”state of the art” analysinstrument såsom iCYT synergy FACS sorter/Eclipse analyser, ViiA7 RT-PCR, Zeiss LSM 700 confocal system, Biorad Experion bioanalyzer. The practical training is supported by lectures and group seminars on the theoretical aspects of the methods used. The duration of the course is three weeks. The following techniques will be covered: • Fenotyping and sorting of cells by the use of FACS • Detection and quantification of protein, RNA amd DNA • Multiplex analysis of protein (nanodrop, Bioanalyzer) • Elispot, Immunohistochemistry, Confocal microscopy • Transfection of mammalian cells • Protein expression in bacteria • RNA extraction, cDNA production and quantitative PCR The course is esentially ”hands on” based and includes the usage of advanced and modern analysis instruments such as iCYT synergy FACS sorter/Eclipse analyser, ViiA7 RT-PCR, Zeiss LSM 700 confocal system, Biorad Experion bioanalyzer. .
