Publishing with visibility and impact
In this lecture and workshop we will go through some things to consider when choosing where to publish your research, especially for journal publishing. You will gain a better understanding of the publishing market and how you can plan your publishing to find the right audience and to enhance the publication’s future accessibility, visibility and impact. We will also address how publication indicators such as the h-index and the impact factor can (or should not) be used and, in the workshop, try out some tools used to calculate these indicators. The Social Sciences Libraries offer a lecture and a subsequent workshop for doctoral students who are starting up their studies or have come a bit on the way. You attend one of the lectures (they are identical and a prerequisite for the workshop) before the workshop. To attend the workshop we ask you to register. You can also register for the lectures. If you can’t attend the lecture, you need to prepare for the workshop by reading the sections “Researcher publishing strategies” and “Research evaluation and bibliometrics” in the Canvas-module “Introduction to information literacy and scholarly communication for doctoral students” (see link on the right). The workshop has a focus on disciplines at the Faculties of Education, Social Science and the School of Business, Economics and Law. Lectures are held in English. |
