Information search 1: Succeeding with subject searches

How do you find literature that is relevant to your research topic? How do you verify that no one else has published on your topic before? In this lecture and workshop we will address how a subject can be turned into an efficient search in subject databases. We’ll focus on concepts and techniques that you can apply in your own work.

The Social Sciences Libraries offer a lecture and a subsequent workshop for doctoral students who are starting up their literature review, writing their thesis plan or feel they need a run-through of how to search for information in subject databases.

You attend one of the lectures (they are identical and a prerequisite for the workshop) before the workshop. To attend the workshop, we ask you to register. If you can’t attend the lecture you need to prepare for the workshop by reading the section “Subject database search” in the Canvas-module “Introduction to information literacy and scholarly communication for doctoral students” (see link on the right).

The lecture and workshop have a focus on disciplines at the Faculties of Education, Social Science and the School of Business, Economics and Law.

Lectures are held in English.
